Never Skip Breakfast

Not enough time in the morning? You don't feel hungry when you wake up?

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day so why not make it the best!? A healthy breakfast will help you to control appetite, curb cravings and kickstart your metabolism meaning eating more food in the morning can actually help you to LOOSE weight! Pair with a cup of Slender Tea: containing green tea and black pepper to assist in energy and metabolism, alongside soothing peppermint and nettle to leave you with that flat belly throughout the morning!

Here are our top reasons for why you should never skip breakfast again!

1. Kickstart your metabolism

--------

When you go to sleep in the evening, your metabolism begins to slows down as you don't use as much energy throughout the night! Your body is in 'rest' and 'repair' mode meaning your body temperature and heart rate drop to help save energy. This makes a healthy breakfast really important to kickstart your metabolism in the morning - to get everything fired up and working efficiently... especially if you are looking to lose weight!

2. Set the Tone!

--------

What you eat for breakfast will determine how you feel for the rest of the day. Skip breakfast and you'll be hungry by the time you reach your desk! Don't let the HANGER creep in, this can lead to poor choices and snacking on the wrong food!

A breakfast high in protein will slow down digestion, alongside fibre can help provide you with a slow-release of energy throughout the morning! Here at PW we love to start our day with a healthy breakfast such as our Slender Porridge,  - high in the insoluble fibre beta-gluan to increase fullness. Serve it with fresh berries and a handful of crushed nuts for the ultimate breakfast fuel!

If you prefer a lighter breakfast, or find it hard to stomach food in the morning then try a lighter smoothie made using our Slender Blend! This will still provide you with a balance of protein, carbs and fibre to keep us fuelled until lunch without feeling too heavy on the belly! 3. Brain Power

--------

Studies suggest that eating breakfast not only provides you with that all needed energy but can also help with cognitive function and memory. Having breakfast at the start of your working day will help stabilise blood sugar levels to improve your focus and attention.

Why not try a breakfast which is also rich in healthy fats and omega 3's, such as poached eggs and salmon, to give your brain that extra boost - keeping you on the ball all day long!

4. Morning Workouts

--------

If you're an early riser and like to workout in the morning it is vital to get in the right nutrition to provide you with enough fuel for your workout! Have something light around 30-60 minutes prior to exercise, such as a banana and peanut butter. This will provide you with that fast release glucose for instant energy, alongside healthy fats to prevent hunger cravings. If you prefer fasted exercise, then this is the perfect time to allow your body to tap in to fat stores for energy and aid weight loss but remember it is still important to get a nourishing breakfast in post-workout (fasted or not)!

A good post-workout breakfast is essential to replenish your body stores and give you the energy needed to continue the rest of your day! This is also a perfect time to include some protein-rich foods into your meal, especially if muscle toning and strength are some of your goals!

5. Curb Your Cravings!

--------

Opt for a protein packed breakfast such as our Slender Porridge, eggs or yoghurt that not only help to limit fat storage but also keep you feeling more full for longer. This is extremely important if you are aiming to lose weight, as a good breakfast will help you to control your appetite and curb snacking!

Skipping breakfast can lead to a drop in blood sugar and that 'hunger rush' mid morning, causing you to reach for that cookie jar in the staff room! This can also happen if you consume a breakfast nutrient poor and full of simple carbohydrates such as a croissant or a slice of white toast with jam - so make sure you are breakfasting right!

6. Heart Health

--------

Did you know breakfast could potential help your heart? Some studies have found that by eating a breakfast high in fibre and wholegrain options you can help to lower the risk of chronic diseases such as Cardiovascular disease and Diabetes. A simple way to boost your intake is to include a tablespoon of ground flaxseed or chia seeds into your morning breakfast bowl (or top your toast) for an extra fibre boost! Also found in our Slender Porridge so you don't need to bother!
